There is (or was) a big VW graveyard around there. Also the dragstrip. Also the Gimli Glider dropped in on unsuspecting autocross.

Didn’t know about the Beetle graveyard. Over the summer I’ll have to check it out.
And yes, which was good, because they were actually the first responders to the crash.
